FAYETTEVILLE - Mr. John T. Purvis Sr., 81, of Fayetteville, died early Sunday morning, January 10, 2016.

Funeral services will be held at 11am Friday, January 15, 2016, in Snyder Memorial Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Bruce Hermann presiding. The burial will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 to 11 am at the church.

John worked primarily in sales; he loved to travel and had developed a preference for the views and scenery of the southwest United States.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; his daughter, Pat Burchett; 3 sons, John T. Purvis, Jr, Paul G. Purvis and Timothy Purvis; step-son, Greg Murphy; 4 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents, William Purvis and Nell Purvis Cobb; his step-father, Paul Cobb; a step-son, Kentley Murphy; and a great-grandchild.
