John Bowden Smith, Jr., 70, of Eastover, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018; on the farm, doing what he did best.

John was born on January 7, 1948 to the late John B. Smith, Sr. and Carolyn B. Smith.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Suellen S. Carter.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gayle McDonald Smith of Eastover; son, Jeffrey Ryan Smith of Fayetteville and his wife, Audrey; granddaughter, Alexa; son, Henry McDaniel Smith of Eastover; brother, Curtis Beard Smith of Eastover; as well as many other family members and friends.

John was a well-known member of the Beard/Eastover Community.  One of his greatest loves was farming, which he excelled in his entire life.  He was also a veteran, a devoted follower of Christ, and a member of Lebanon Baptist Church in Eastover.

Services will be on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Lebanon Baptist Church in Eastover.  The family will receive friends at the church, prior to the service, from 9:30am to 11:00am with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lebanon Baptist Church.
