Mr. Joseph F. Rittmeyer, 86, of Fayetteville, formerly of Sun City Center, Florida, passed away July 14, 2010, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He follows his lovely wife of 57 years, Alice, who died November 8, 2001. He is survived by his daughter, Ann Rebecca Ortiz of Fayetteville; his son, Michael Joseph Rittmeyer of Atlanta; and 5 grandchildren. He proudly served for four years in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII, having participated in the initial landings at Guadalcanal on August 7, 1942, and later at the Cape Glouster, New Britain landing. Funeral services will be held graveside at Arlington National Cemetery on August 11, 2010, at 10 am with military honors. There he will join his wife who is waiting.
