Joseph Simpson, 83, of Fayetteville passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
Joseph was born on October 20, 1941, in Onslow County to the late Thomas Atkins Simpson and Ida Mae Brinson Simpson.
He started his career with Bleeker Motors where he was a mechanic and specialized in Jaguars and Fiats. He later worked with Rohm and Haas before joining Vander Auto Repair, where he worked with Fiats and other small cars.
In 2003 Joseph retired from Kelly Springfield, now known as Goodyear Tire Company. He was a loving husband and enjoyed spending time with the love of his life as well as other family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 2p.m. – 3p.m. at Stedman Pentecostal Holiness Church with a service following at 3:30p.m.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Simpson Family Cemetery in Richlands. Serviced by Community Funeral Home, 840 W Main St, Beulaville, NC 28518
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his siblings, Marjorie Bass, Harold Simpson, Patricia Simpson Penny, Rose Rivenbark, Ione Melton, Johnny Simpson and Charlie Simpson.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sheila Matney Simpson; siblings, James A. Simpson of Hope Mills, Bobby Simpson and wife Mildred of Richlands, Leon Simpson and wife Barbara of Chinquapin, Brenda Taylor of Beulaville, Donnie Simpson and wife Shelby of Beulaville; sisters-in-law, Joyce M. Bunce of Stedman and Vivian M. Naylor of Fayetteville; and many nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.
