Judith Beard Johnson, 86, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Judy was born on August 8, 1940, in Cumberland County to the late Empie A. Beard and Edna Hall Beard. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Judy retired from M.J. Soffie and enjoyed a life filled with the simple things that brought her happiness, including sharing time and special moments with her grandchildren, reading, baseball, and gospel music.

Judy will be remembered for her sweet disposition, kindness, and wonderful sense of humor. Her warmth, laughter, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her first husband, William C. Jones, Jr. and her son, William A. Jones.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, John M. Johnson; her daughter, Nancy J. Denney (Paul); grandchildren, Addison Denney (Tricia), Brandon Denney (Katie) and Chandler Denney (Albrie); great-grandchildren, Cyrus and Robyn; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Lafayette Memorial Park.
