Obituary

Julia Scott "Scottie" Maas, 78 of Fayetteville, NC passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center due to COVID-19.   Scottie was born in Quantico, Prince William County, Virginia to the late Sidney R. Smith and Muriel Barker Smith. She was predeceased in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Andrew Palmer Maas.

Scottie retired from Sears Automotive Center. She was an active member and served as an officer of the I.O.F. Foresters.  She volunteered and supported many local and worthy charities. She loved to travel and cruise the world with family and friends.  She never met a stranger and could make anyone feel comfortable with her quick wit and funny stories.  Scottie loved her family and was beloved by each one.  She had many lifelong friends who became members of her extended family.

Scottie is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Bush and her husband James "Jeb" Bush of Fayetteville, NC; granddaughter, Julia Furois Delay and her husband William "Will" Delay and great-grandsons, Alexander Tyler Delay and Oliver Andrew Delay of Fayetteville, NC; sister, Elizabeth Hosler of Fayetteville, NC; brother, Howard Smith and wife Raelyn Janssen of Chapel Hill, NC.

According to her wishes, no services are planned at this time. A memorial will be held at a later date.  The family would like to thank Dr. Leah Bryant and the other doctors, nurses, and staff of SR-AHEC and Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, 8th floor COVID Unit for their kindness, understanding, and support.
