Mr. Julian Byng Gibbs, 79, of Carthage, formerly of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at Moore Regional Hospital. Mr. Gibbs was a Marine veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired funeral director with Jernigan Warren Funeral Home after 40 years of service. He was a member of Culdee Presbyterian Church and a former member of Second Baptist Church in Fayetteville. Byng enjoyed baseball, softball, traveling and working outdoors. His funeral service will be held Saturday, February 9, 2008, at 2 pm in Culdee Presbyterian Church with Rev. Christopher Bobo officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Etta Gibbs; his brother, Roger Gibbs and his sister, Frances Lane. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Blue Gibbs of the home; his nieces, Phyllis McLeod and Diann Fortune; his nephew, Ronald Bowen; a great nephew, Calvin La France Jr.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jene and Rebecca Bowen. The family will receive friends Friday evening, February 8, 2008, from 6 to 8:30 pm at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
