Kenneth M. Collins, 77, of Fayetteville, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Collins was an Army veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He received numerous awards and recognitions including National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and Vietnam Service Medal.
He worked with three security companies after retirement, Pinkerton, Industrial Loss-Prevention Inc. and Alexander National Security, from which he received service awards.
Mr. Collins was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he was an usher.
The family will receive friends Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick Catholic Church. Entombment with full military honors will follow in the mausoleum at Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
He was a loving husband, father, son and brother. He is survived by his wife, Hideko Collins of the home; two daughters, Alice C. Singletary and Linda C. Miller, both of Fayetteville; two sisters, LaRue Morris of Ohio and Norma Jean Castillo of Florida; three grandchildren, Shaina of San Antonio, Texas, Bryan of Easley, S.C., and Megan of Fayetteville; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church Building Fund, 2844 Village Drive, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
