Obituary

Ken Williams passed away peacefully on December 17, 2014,surrounded by the love of his family. Hewas born on July 21, 1948 in Hamlet, NC to James Frank Williams and JessieGrant Williams. He was preceded in deathby his brother Stancil Williams and his sister Hope Williams Bryant.

Growing up, he was an all-county football player at HamletHigh School. After high school, heenlisted in the US Army, and served two tours of duty in Vietnam, earning theBronze Star. During his 23 year Armycareer, he served in the 82 nd Airborne Division, and the 25 th MP Infantry Division. He retired fromthe military at the rank of 1 st Sergeant. He was a lifetime memberof the Hope Mills VFW Post 10630. He wasa member of the Retired Military Police Association, and at one time served asthe secretary for the organization. He was also a member of the 173 rd Airborne Association and the 82 nd Airborne Golden Brigade.

Ken was married to the former Connie Brigman. They spent many happy years together livingin Fayetteville, NC, Germany, and Hawaii, and then travelling in retirement tovarious military reunions. Their unionended with Connie's death in April 2005.

After Connie's death, Ken was able to rekindle a friendshipwith Polly Robinson McDuffie. They alsoenjoyed going to military reunions, the Grand Canyon, and spending time withtheir children and grandchildren. Kenand Polly were married in 2013.

Ken is survived by his wife, Polly, brothers Richard andJerry, sons Bryan (and wife Carol) and Jeff (and wife Heather), stepdaughterMaryAnn Prevatte, stepson Lee McDuffie (and fiancée Tara Daughtery),grandchildren Matthew Williams, Daniel Williams, Rhiannon Williams, BraedonWilliams, Amber Faulk, Raven Prevatte, Jasmine Prevatte, great-grandson MatthewBrigman, and several nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made in Ken's honor to the Wounded WarriorProject, the Airborne and Special Operations Museum inFayetteville, NC, or the Retired Military Police Association.

Funeral services will be held, Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held Monday, December 29 th 2014 at 2 p.m. at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, December 21, from 2-3 p.m. one hour prior to the service.
