Kimberly "Kim" Sue (Cookson) Guard passed away on August 16th, 2017 in her home in Linden, NC after a hard battle with cancer. Kim was born on August 15th 1968 in Decatur, IL. She is survived by her mother Malinda hector Cookson, husband Tony Guard, mother in law lien guard, and 3 daughters Mikalia, Haley, and Madison Guard. As well as a slew of aunts uncles cousins and close family friends. Kim served in the Air Force for 20 years and was employed at Goodyear until her health declined.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 7 pm-9 pm at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home. The memorial service will be held at The River Community Church 777 Elliot Bridge Rd, Fayetteville on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 10:30am. The burial will take place at 12 pm following the memorial service at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery with Full Military Honors.

In regards to flowers, Kim requested that flowers not be given to the family, and instead a donation made to The River or to the Health Pavilion North Cancer Center where Kim was treated and touched and was touched by many lives. Kim also requested that her funeral and visitation be considered a fun-eral. In other words, she has requested that nobody wear black to her services. Please come dressed in colorful and comfortable attire.
