Obituary

Kimberly Michelle Mims, 32, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, January 30, 2016. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at 11 am at New Hope Baptist Church, Rosehill Road, Fayetteville, NC, with Pastor Ray Morawski and Pastor Carl Rehrer officiating. Internment will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park, Ramsey Street, Fayetteville.

Kim was born on January 17, 1984. She graduated from E. E. Smith High School, class of 2002. Kim worked in a variety of occupations, including serving as the Senior Administrative Assistant at Cumberland County Animal Control for four years, as a CNA and unit secretary with Cape Fear Valley Health system, as a waitress and bartender at several local restaurants, and most recently, as a caregiver for her grandfather.

Kim had a wonderful, spunky spirit and a contagious smile. She was a caring and giving person, always willing to help those in need. Her passion was taking care of others. Her greatest joy came from taking care of children, especially Casey and Jordan whom she considered her own. Her legacy was love and service to others which was founded on her giving spirit and her ability to forgive others.

Family was a vital part of Kim's life. She loved being a sister to Marsha, "Aunt Kim" to Kenny (aka "Chunky Monkey"), a caring and supportive daughter, granddaughter, niece,and cousin, a loving support to Kenny, Casey and Jordan, her family, and a friend to so many. With her passing, there is now another bright star shining in Heaven.

She is survived by her parents, Freddie and Donna Hobbs Mims; her sister, Marsha Murphy, husband Lawrence Murphy and their son Kenneth Paul Murphy; the loves of her life, Kenneth Kelso and his children Jordan and Casey; grandfather, Jim H. Hobbs; her uncles, Jimmy Hobbs and wife Leslie and Kenneth Mims and wife Brenda; and her aunts, Becky Campbell and Alice Schultz, all of Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, February 5, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home.
