L. Glynn Dixon, 64 of Fayetteville, passed away November 26, 2013 at home after battling several chronic illnesses. Glynn was born May 22, 1949 in Camilla, Georgia to Joseph and Willie Dixon. He graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University in 1970 and spent 36 years in retail management. However, his greatest role was that of treasured Papa to Timothy, Brooks, Emma, Dixon and Beckett. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Vera Morey Dixon, of Fayetteville; his son, Chris Dixon, and wife, Dawn, of Fayetteville; his daughter, Ashlee Dixon Ciccone, and husband, Ryan, of Pinehurst, NC; his five beloved grandchildren, and his daily dachshund companion, Maggie Mae. He is also survived by brothers Ray, Herbert, Gordon, and Robert Dixon as well as a sister, Margaret Thomas. Glynn chose to donate his body to the study of medicine at Duke University. A visitation will be held at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 6:00-8:00pm. A private service for family will be held at a later date. The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Stephen Logue of Village Internal Medicine, Dr. Gerard Blobe of Duke Cancer Center; Dr. Eric Frizzell, Dr. Brooks Mays, and Dr. David Hipp of Pinehurst Medical Group; Dr. Hannah von Hardenberg of Pinehurst Nephrology Associates; Healthkeeperz Hospice; and the staff of Moore Regional Hospital as well as countless nurses and aides for their care and support over the last several years.
