FAYETTEVILLE - Mr. Lacy Eugene "Gene" Davis, 75, passed away on January 12, 2018 with his wife and daughter by his side

Gene was born June 7, 1942 to the late John Sampson & Ada Everitte Davis. Gene spent many years in the Massey Hill area where he met his wife Barbara Edge Davis. They were married April 12, 1970, and for the past 47 years have remained by each other's side. Gene owned and operated in the late 80's Dottie's Package Store in Massey Hill. He was also a former employee of Taylor's Splicing Company and the NC DOT.

He was an avid NY Yankee's and NASCAR fan. When a game or race was not on you could usually find him fishing. He shared his love of fishing with his wife, daughter, and granddaughters.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Johnny James Davis, Sr. and Jerry Wayne Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Edge Davis of Fayetteville; daughter, Sarah "Becky" Espinosa and husband, Chris of Gray's Creek; Granddaughters, Lacey Ann Yearicks & Kelsey Elizabeth Espinosa; brother Sherman Davis (Patty); sisters, Sylvia Edwards, Carol Lecuyer, and Kathy Jones (JB).

The Funeral Service, led by Duncan L. Edge, Jr. will be Friday, January 19 at 2:00 PM at Jernigan Warren Chapel followed by Graveside Services at Cumberland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
