Lee D. Jones
FAYETTEVILLE — Lee D. Jones, 93, passed away in the Autumn Care of Fayetteville nursing home on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Locklear Jones; and parents, Della Freeman and Duckery Jones; brothers, John D. Jones, William H. Jones, Bickey Jones, Dan R. Jones and Walford Jones; sisters, Hester Locklear and Ada Bell Demery. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the battle of the Bulge, farmer, former owner and operator of Jones Supermarket and Jones Hardware and faithful member of Carroll Memorial Baptist Church. He was chairman of deacons and Sunday school teacher, and Mr. Jones was a school crossing guard at Douglas Bryd Senior School.
Mr. Lee Jones is survived by his daughters, Sandra Lucas and husband Jim of Gastonia, Linda Thorne and husband Robert of Fayetteville, Judy "Gail" Jones and husband Fred of Lumberton; grandchildren, Lisa Smith, Kevin Thorne, Brian Thorne and Jackie Lucas; great grandchildren, Ashley Smith, Kyle Smith, Julia Thorne, Emma Thorne, Caroline Thorne and Carson Thorne.
A funeral for Mr. Lee D. Jones will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Carroll Memorial Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Bobby West and the Rev. Carl A. Pevia. The burial will be following the service at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends, Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville from 6 to 8p.m.

The funeral will be Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 2pm in Carroll Memorial Baptist Church
Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street
