Obituary

LeeElna Ann Napoleon, 90, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at her home with her loving family by her side.

Ann was born on March 11, 1935, in Cumberland County to the late Raymond Edge and Ethel Smith Edge. She became a proud military wife when she married her love, Ronald Napoleon. Together they built a life centered on love, dedication, and family. Ann was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, niece, and friend, whose kindness and strength touched all who knew her.

A crafty and creative soul, Ann enjoyed painting and quilting for many years. In her later years, she found joy in shopping through QVC and Amazon, always excited to find something special for herself or her family.

Ann dedicated 30 years of service to the Fayetteville Police Department, where she retired as the Director of Records. Her commitment and professionalism left a lasting impact on the department and her colleagues.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Suggs Grove Baptist Church. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the church cemetery.

In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Napoleon; her son, Anthony Napoleon; her daughter, Connie Sauvageau; and her brother, Ollen DeCosta.

She is survived by her son, whom she adored and loved with all her heart, Tracy Napoleon and her daughter-in-law, Marisa Sutherland, of  Saint Augustine, Florida; her sister, Bronice Carter of Fayetteville; her grandchildren, Amanda Napoleon of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Sydnie Napoleon of Gloversville, New York, and Leigh Sauvageau of Conway, South Carolina; and her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Lucy, and Lunora.
