Mrs. Lena Johnson Ballance, 77, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Mrs. Ballance was a retiree of the J.C. Penney Company and a devoted member of Lebanon Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Kermit Ballance of the home; two sons, Fred Ballance and his wife, Betty, and Garry Ballance and his wife, Lisa, all of Fayetteville; a brother, Hursel Johnson and his wife, Lou, of Whitakers; a sister, Ethelene Wilkins of Benson; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Ballance will be conducted by the Rev. Wray Wheeless at 3 pm Thursday in Lebanon Baptist Church on Beard Road in Eastover. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
