Obituary

Mr. Leslie Belmont Fisher, 76, of Eastover, passed peacefully Friday morning, November 1, 2013, at his residence. A memorial service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 pm in Sunnyside Presbyterian Church with Rev. Evan Harrison presiding. The burial will follow at Crumpler Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Leslie was born in Cumberland County on March 15, 1937, to the late Ivy and Rena Fisher. He worked for Carolina Telephone and Telegraph for 34 years before retiring. He served in the US Air Force and was retired from the US Air National Guard. He was an avid lover of Appaloosa horses and was a supporter of the Appaloosa Horse Club for 40 years. Leslie was an active Elder at Sunnyside Presbyterian. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce Crumpler Fisher of the home; daughter, Leslyn Fisher of Rock Hill, SC; son, Alan Fisher and wife, Shannon, of Eastover; brother, Wilton Fisher of Mesa, AZ; three sisters, Vergie Cullop and husband, Nick, of Tega Cay, SC, Linda Trimnal of Tega Cay, and Rebecca Hill of Laurens, SC; and 11 nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, 3997 Sunnyside School Road, Fayetteville NC 28312, or Lung Cancer Research Foundation 155 East 55 Street Suite 6H New York, NY 10022, or to a charity of one's choice. A memorial service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 pm in Sunnyside Presbyterian Church with Rev. Evan Harrison presiding. The burial will follow at Crumpler Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
