Lessie Delaney Sessoms, 92 of Fayetteville passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Lessie was born on July 4, 1923 in Cumberland County to the late Betty Butler and John Delaney.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Sessoms and brothers, Bill Delaney and Floyd Delaney; sisters, Catherine Spralding and Deloris Angelico. Lessie was a retired cafeteria manager at Massey Hill High School and a longtime member of Carroll Memorial Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Jernigan-Warren Chapel with her brother, Rev. Elby Dulaney, officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey St. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Mrs. Sessoms is survived by her sons, David Sessoms and wife Debbie of Fayetteville; Samuel Claude Sessoms and wife Robin of Fayetteville; John A. McLaurin of Gaston, S.C.; daughters, Claudia Taylor of Fayetteville; Betty Tew and partner Nick Davis of Fayetteville; brother, Rev. Elby Dulaney and wife Kathleen of Pittsboro; grandchildren, Kathy, Frank, Sharon, Cindy, Pam, Anne, Collin, Michael, Krissy, Aimee, Emily, Alex and Adrienne and 21 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
