Obituary

FAYETTEVILLE - Mrs. Linda Canipe Faircloth, after an extended illness, passed from this life to heaven Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, surrounded by her devoted husband, Bud, and family members. Linda, at the young age of 7, accepted Christ's invitation and served her Lord until her death. She was a lifelong member of Mount Carmel Pentecostal Holiness Church and, through the years, faithfully and joyfully fulfilled all her areas of ministry to glorify God, which included acting as Sunday school teacher, leader of Ladies Prayer Meeting group, church secretary-treasurer and, at the time of her death, church finance officer. Linda was a gifted and talented musician, soloist, song writer and recording artist. She served as church pianist, organist and a member of the Sanctuary Choir and Praise Team. Linda was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Durand; a daughter, Amy Louise; and her father, Clyde Canipe. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Durand \\"Bud\\" Faircloth; her mother, Hilda Canipe; a brother, Leslie Canipe and wife Mary Ann; a niece, Kim Fisher; great-nieces, Amber and Ashley; great-nephew, Victor; and great-great-nephew, Ethan. To know Linda was to love her. Throughout her life, she accepted every challenge as an opportunity to grow her faith and her service to her Lord. Linda's Christian influence still lives today, and she will be remembered as a witness fulfilling her areas of ministry, but, most importantly, as a child of God. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at Mount Carmel Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2569 Owen Drive, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Wiley Hughes, the Rev. Elwood Long and the Rev. Gary Strickland officiating. Burial will be held at Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville and from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mount Carmel Pentecostal Holiness Church building fund, 2569 Owen Drive, Fayetteville, NC 28306; or to HealthKeeperz Home Health and Hospice, 209 W.
