Linda Lipsey Critchett, 76 , of Fayetteville, died June 4, 2016 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She passed away at the Carolina Inn at Village Green where she was lovingly cared for by the nursing staff and Hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vester"Lee" Averette.

Linda is survived by a daughter, Renee Thompson and husband Timmy; a grandson, Jason Thompson; a great granddaughter, Jessabelle; a sister, Diane Szabo and husband Tom; and her best friend, Mae Whitehurst.

She retired from Fort Bragg, December 31, 2006, where she served as the Chief Executive Services/Protocol officer for Headquarters, XVIII Airborne Corps, Office of the Chief of Staff.

Linda enjoyed RVing, reading, going to the beach, and taking care of her cats. As an avid NASCAR lover, she enjoyed spending her time watching and attending as many races as possible. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
