Obituary

Lou Ann "Lanie" Blumenfeld, 73, of Spring Lake, NC, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

Lanie was born on May 3, 1953, in Cut Bank, Montana to Robert Eaglin and Flora Eaglin (Luchi). She spent her formative years in Conrad, Montana under the care of her grandmother Gail Campbell. She graduated from Conrad High School in 1971 and shortly thereafter married Clifford Oswald. They had two children, Ryan in January of 1975 and Robyn on her Birthday in 1976. While in Great Falls Montana, after a dissolution of her marriage she met the love of her life and married Byron Blumenfeld on March 29, 1979. The family was then swept up in an Air Force career which took them to Nevada, Guam, South Dakota and California. During this time Lanie worked several jobs in the service field but always maintained that her most important job was as a loving mother, wife and homemaker. One final move brought her to Spring Lake, North Carolina, where she and her husband built the home of their dreams and have lived for 22 years.

She loved being with family and friends and loved to laugh. She loved cooking amazing meals for everyone and keeping family traditions alive during the holidays. Her chocolate chip and sugar cookies and of course her fried chicken and potato salad were always a staple and the best! She loved decorating, gardening and being in the yard for as long as she could manage it.

She is survived by her husband Byron; her son Ryan Oswald and wife Sara; and her daughter Robyn Wilmoth. Her grandchildren Trae, Berkley, Molly, Jack and Ashley, and a host of extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2 pm at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery at Ft. Bragg, NC.
