FAYETTEVILLE - Mrs. Louise Murphy Peterson, of Fayetteville, died Saturday, April 9, 2016 in Heritage Suites.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 11 ,2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Jernigan-Warren Chapel with Dr. Tryon Lancaster, officiating. A visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey St.
Mrs. Peterson was a lifelong Methodist; she held many offices in the North Carolina Methodist Conference; a member of the Eastern Star; and the Fayetteville Pilot Club. Mrs. Peterson is survived by two stepdaughters, Earlena Marshall of Ozark, Alabama and Rebecca Montgomery of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Amy, Natalie and Scott; several great-grandchildren; nieces, Mary Ratley and husband Steve, Gaye Rose and Irene Herndon; great-nephews; Justin Ratley and wife Amber and Mike Herndon; great-nieces; Lauren Ratley Dempster and husband Drew, Melissa Mulchahey; one great great niece, Kyleigh Ratley and one great-great nephew, Tripp Dempster and a very special brother-in-law, Pete Overmann, that was her main caregiver for the last six years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl "Pete" Peterson; parents, Rev. Henry Murphy and Minnie Bryant Murphy; brother, Morris E. Murphy; and sisters, Mary Alice Murphy Overmann and Edith Murphy Hill and a nephew Bobby Herndon. Pallbearers are Steve and Justin Ratley. Drew Dempster, Doug Marshall and Ricky and David Marks.
The family would like to express a sincere thank you for the wonderful staff at Heritage Place Assisted Living for all the care and love that they have shown to Louise and her family. Also, much gratitude to Gloria Blackstock for her kindness and care that she gave Louise and her husband Pete for so many years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Heights United Methodist Church, Trinity Dr. Fayetteville, N.C. 28301.
