Celebrating the life of March Floyd Riddle, 87. She was born November 8, 1927 in Fairmont, NC to the late Soggie and Caroline Floyd. God's love called her home on Saturday, February 28, 2015.
Funeral service will be held in Haymount United Methodist Church at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. The burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 pm on Tuesday in Haymount's Family Life Center.
March was a longtime member of Haymount United Methodist Church. She graduated from Fairmont High School.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. March spent most of her life raising her family and volunteering at her church and at Highsmith-Rainey Hospital where as a pink lady she managed the gift shop.
She was an avid Tar Heel fan and possibly followed Dean on his birthday to watch Carolina in the sky.
After the death of her husband, she became more involved in the operation of the family business. Through her faithful support in the community, she was honored with receiving the Greater Good Award at Methodist University.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.P. Riddle and sister, Elgia Smith.
March is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Armstrong and husband George; Sharlene Williams; son Joe Riddle and wife Trina. Brother, H.S. "Sonny" Floyd and wife Sue. Ten grandchildren, Melissa Armstrong, Brian Armstrong and wife Katherine, Michael Armstrong and wife Amy, Kyle Riddle and wife Amie, Joseph Riddle, Jared Riddle, Jane March Riddle, R.J. Williams and wife Maria, Palmer Williams, and Caroline Williams. Eight great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild and nephews, Steve and Greg Floyd and many devoted employees.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haymount United Methodist Church 1700 Fort Bragg Road, Fayetteville, NC 28303.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the love and care from all Home Instead caregivers and the nurses and staff of the Carolina Inn.
