Mr. Marcus Geddie McKnight, 93, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, December 28, 2008, at the Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at 2:30 pm in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dr. William Snotherly officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 pm Tuesday in the church parlor. Mr. McKnight was an Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and was a retired US Postal Service employee. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Elizabeth McKnight; a brother, L.E. McKnight; and a sister Harriett Carter. He is survived by his two daughters, Carole Wells and husband, Woody, of Fayetteville and Ann Sutton and husband, Gene, of Kinston; a sister, Una Estes of Fayetteville; 4 grandchildren, Mark Sutton, Brian Sutton, Benjamin Wells, and Jeremy Wells; and 3 great-granddaughters.
