Margaret Louise
Atkinson
August 19, 1922 – March 1, 2015
Mrs. Margaret Louise Atkinson, 92, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015, in the Bridgeview Center in Ormond Beach, Fla., where she lived for the past 2 1/2 years. She was born in Cumberland County, one of nine children and the daughter of Herbert "Hub" Charles Carver and Geneva Patterson Carver, both of Cumberland County, N.C. She worked hard her whole life. She spent years as a seamstress for Christie Manufacturing Co., American uniform and even enjoyed handing out coupons at the grocery store after retirement. In 2009, she moved South, where she enjoyed the Florida sunshine and living with her daughter and son-in-law. She loved God and was a devout Christian above all else. Always a night owl, she loved her family and had many friends. She could make any plant flourish, had a beautiful yard and enjoyed picking glowers with her granddaughter. A Democrat and an amazing Southern cook, she was famous for her cornbread, chicken and pastry and pot roast (at least to our family). She followed the Farmer's Almanac and knew of every kind of wives tale ever told. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; and her sons, JW and Dwayne. She leaves behind a daughter, Martha Pacheco and son-in-law Bobby Pacheco of Lake Mary; son, Charles Herbert Atkinson and daughter-in-law, Susan of Stedman, N.C. She was a beloved granny to 14 grandchildren, Garland and Roseann, Cindy and Thomas, Jay and Sheila, Scarlet, Becky and Steven, Britt, Adam and Erica, Daniel and Caley; great-granny to 11, Jessica, Gabriella, Fernando and Paige, Taylor, Jay, Connor, Dillon, Lucy, Ella and Cara; and great- great-granny to six. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 6, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Hillside Baptist Church, with the burial following in Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. To say she will be missed is an understatement. The world was a better place with her in it. The family would like to express our deepest gratitude for all of the love, care and patience of the staff at the Bridgeview Center in Ormond Beach, and her church family at Hillside Baptist Church. Arrangements by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
