Mrs. Margie Mae Gibbs Oates, 86, of Fayetteville, died Thursday, October 20, 2016 in Cumberland Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Alton Oates; a grandson, James Franklin Oates, Jr.; and a brother, Lonnie Gibbs.

Margie is survived by two sons, James Franklin Oates (Jim) and wife Barbara of Hope Mills; Lonnie Thomas Oates (Tommy) and wife Frances of Jacksonville, NC; a daughter Robin Lynn Brown of Rocky Mount; two sisters, Virginia Coker of Fayetteville and Adeline Riley of Hope Mills; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 niece; and 1 nephew.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 2 P.M. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cross Creek Cemetery #3. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2 P.M. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
