Maria E. Wood FAYETTEVILLE - Mrs. Maria E. \\"Maruja\\" Wood, 86, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2010. She was born May 1, 1923, in Gijon, Spain, and lived in various states and was a longtime resident of the Panama Canal Zone. She traveled extensively; in 1989, she moved to Miami and lived there until 2007, when she moved to Fayetteville to be closer to her family. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 5, 2010, at 2 p.m. in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville, the family will receive friends following the service. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Edward Wood; two sons, Edward Wood Jr. of Alaska, and Michael R. Wood of Lillington; and two grandchildren, Lt. Daniel Wood and Donna Wood. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
