RALEIGH - Mrs. Marie Farah Beard, 85, formerly of Fayetteville, passed away Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, in Duke Raleigh Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville with Deacon Vince Mescall officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Beard was born in Clinton, one of six children born to the late Diab and Nezira Farah. She worked for Player Inc. for many, many years before retiring. She was devoted to her church, St. Patrick Catholic Church. She was a resident of Sunrise Assisted Living in Raleigh for the past six years. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Colon Beard. Mrs. Beard is survived by three daughters, Linda M. Beard of Atlanta, Janet B. Thoren and husband Doug of Raleigh, and Susan B. Mennard and husband Paul of Raleigh; three grandchildren, Kristine Marie Dutton, Rebecca Ashley Mennard and Zachary Fulton Thoren, all of Raleigh; and a brother, George Farah of Alexandria, Va.
