Marilyn Ketchum Leader, 92, passed away on April 19, 2018. She was born on November 6, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Francis Ketchum and Ruth Buckingham Ketchum. She graduated from McKeesport High School. She attended Miami University of Ohio and Indiana University of PA where she received a bachelor's degree in home economics education. She was married to the late James W. Leader, who died in October, 2005.

She is survived by sons Frank(Cathy) Leader of Fayetteville, NC and Ben Leader of Maui, Hawaii, grandchildren, Jami(Eddie) Matthews, Idaho Falls, ID; Edward(Bethany) Leader, Goldsboro, NC; Matthew Leader(Sarah Jo), Chapel Hill, NC; Patrick(Sarah Beth) Leader Winston-Salem, NC; Sara Leader(Nicholas) of California; Justin Leader of California; Randy Leader of Maui, Hawaii; Mandolin Leader of Portland, Oregon and 7 great grandchildren. A sister, Nancy Gray lives in Seminole, Fl. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her children Randy Leader and Linda Kirouac. She grew up In McKeesport, PA and married Jim(Bud) Leader in August 1952. She and Jim started their family(Randy & Frank) in Level Green, Pa (Jim built their first house himself). They moved to Idaho Falls, Id in 1957 and added to their family(Linda & Ben) before moving to Bethel Park, Pa in 1969. Years later Jim wanted to retire in Idaho so they returned to Idaho Falls. Marilyn was an "educated city girl" that fell for a country boy that had just gotten out of the Marines after WWII. During her early years with Jim they raised children in Idaho and grew to love the outdoors. Most weekends, during "warmer" weather (this is a relative term because the mountains and valleys in Idaho get a generous serving of winter!) the family went camping and fishing. The fishing also included the best benefits of "catching" and cooking fresh trout. She loved to fish, and her favorite spot was at Birch Creek in Idaho. The early camping was in a large canvas tent, which evolved into a truck mounted "camper" over time, then after getting "pesky" kids out of the house, into an RV. Marilyn spent many happy years with Jim traveling across the country in their Recreational Vehicle (32' long, motor home) visiting family and friends. Remember her and Jim now as they relished their lives, camping, fishing, traveling and especially spending time with all their family and friends. Services are being held May 19, 3:00PM, visitation to follow, at Galatia Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville. Additionally, services will be held in Idaho Falls including an ash scattering. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Galatia Presbyterian Church, 8800 Galatia Church Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
