Pastor Marvin L. Brooks, 71 , of Hope Mills, died Friday, September 5, 2014 at Duke University Hospital. Mr. Brooks was born February 24, 1943 in Cumberland County. He was a beloved husband and father, but his greatest love was for the Lord. Mr. Brooks had been a devoted pastor at Shaw Heights Baptist Church in Fayetteville, since 1988. He was a successful business owner of Brooks Pro Sound and Lighting since August 1985. He will be missed deeply and will forever be in our hearts. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Shaw Heights Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. Mr. Brooks is survived by his loving wife of 43 years: Wanda McIntyre Brooks; daughters, Holli Wilson and Christine Herring and husband Jay; grandchildren, Brittani Brooks, Timothy McIntyre, Gabrielle Shaw, Christopher Elkins, Saxton Wilson, Hunter Wilson and Brandon Herring; a great grandson Noah Rayon. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 9, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
