Mary E. Matthews STEDMAN — Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Matthews, 67 of Stedman, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Mrs. Matthews was a retired pediatric medical secretary for Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville after 35 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward W. Matthews; and her parents, Minnie and William Parker. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012, in Jernigan-Warren Chapel with the Rev. Roy Hilburn officiating. Entombment will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens on Raeford Road. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight, Monday, July 9, 2012. Mrs. Matthews is survived by her sons, William E. Matthews and wife Darlene of Raeford and Eric C. Matthews of Fayetteville; daughter, Melinda M. Hinman and husband Kim of Stedman; brother, William E. Parker of Stedman; sister, Becky D. Tucker of Fayetteville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
