Obituary

Mary "Kitty" Laird Jordan Few words can describe the beautiful woman that was Kitty. She was a great many things to so very many people that attempting a description will always come up short. Kitty was born on New Year's Day, 1950, the first baby of the year in her hospital. She was the second of eight children, and shared a close bond with her older brother, Reuben. She was a diligent student who enjoyed learning and graduated top of her class. As a young wife, she lost her leg to cancer but went on to bear two daughters. She attended nursing school and raised her children while her husband was overseas in the military. She competed for and won a trip to Budapest, Hungary to attend The American Cancer Congress. Ministering with dignity, honor and selfless service, she was an ICU nurse for 23 years in an occupation she loved. A devout Christian with strong faith, she lived her life as a faithful servant of God. She was a self taught pianist who proudly played, as well as sang, to countless congregations. Her three grandchildren were her heart, and she was a loving and devoted grandmother. One of her many hobbies was photography, and she could be counted on to capture important moments. She was a faithful wife who enjoyed traveling with her husband on their motorcycle. Kitty kept life-long friendships and left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Our hearts are broken, but her memory will live on until the day we meet again... Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 2 p.m.at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev.
