Mary Margaret
"Margie" Maxwell
October 25, 1960 – September 23, 2016
Margie had the most beautiful smile in the world because she trusted the Lord and knew that one day she'd go to spend eternity there. She was born in her beloved home of Akron OH to her loving Mother Pat Quelos and her late Father Bob Mullen on October 25th 1960 and grew into a wonderful daughter, sister and mother and wife. Like her Mom, she became a teacher and began a lifelong interest in improving lives of children. She graduated from Akron University and taught briefly in Ohio before leaving for North Carolina where she taught mostly middle school science in various counties. She was active in the Adult Literacy Program at the Fayetteville Urban Ministry and later served on the Board of Directors. With her friends Jackie and Paulette, she supported the Multiple Sclerosis support group and was a planner for the annual MS walk. Her brilliant smile could light up a room and she will be missed by many. Margie is survived by her husband Dr. James Maxwell of the home, Mother Pat and stepdad Bob of Akron, Brother Randy and his wife Renee of Maryland, daughter Jessica and husband Aaron of Smithfield with Grandchildren Izabella, Andrea, Alauna, Olivia, Inola, and Ezekiel, nieces Caitlyn and Chris of Maryland and Jenny and Shawn of Maryland, Stepsisters Linda and Chuck of Akron and Gail and Rich of Nebraska, and Stepbrother Bob and Becki of Ohio. She is also survived by a mother in law, Mary and step-son of Ontario and a sister in law Judith and husband Eric of British Columbia. In recent years she was in love with her wonderful caregivers Lilly, Barbara and Jennifer.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 11 AM at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday night, September 30, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please make an angel in heaven smile by donating to the MS Walk by walking next spring.
