Mrs. Mary Jane Pardue McCulloch, 78, of Morehead City, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, in Carteret General Hospital after a long illness. She was born Nov. 16, 1931, in North Wilkesboro to Robert \\"Bob\\" and Olivia Prevette Pardue. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McCulloch was preceded in death by two sons, Sgt. Charles Robert McCulloch and Staff Sgt. Larry Vance McCulloch; sisters, Pearl Blackburn, Bertha Wilcox, Emma Brown and Grace Blevins; and brothers, Ross Pardue, James Pardue, Charlie Pardue, Frank Pardue and Robert Pardue. Mrs. McCulloch was a store manager in Fayetteville for more than 20 years, where she was also a bookkeeper and an accountant. She was an enthusiastic bowler with a high average. She loved to fish, and she loved her nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. The committal services will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. McCulloch is survived by her husband, retired Army Sgt. Maj. Alton L. McCulloch; a son, Alton L. McCulloch Jr. of Kinston; a brother, William L. Pardue of Boomer; two grandchildren, Charles Robert McCulloch II of Raleigh and April Victoria McCulloch of Raleigh; two great-granddaughters, Emily McCulloch and Natalie McCulloch; and several nieces and nephews.
