Mrs. Mary Bernice Miller Boughman, 91, of Fayetteville, NC, died Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the Carolina Inn.

Bernice was born August 4, 1932, in Perry County, Ohio, to the late Ralph Joseph Miller and Mary Mabel Higgins Miller. It was in Ohio that Bernice met the love of her life, Harold "Hank" Lee Boughman, Sr., and she accepted Hank's offer of marriage when she was 19 years old.

Three children followed: Kathy, Barbara, and Lee. Bernice was a wonderful mother, always the first to volunteer for the school P.T.A. and Girl Scouts. In 1970, Hank's job was transferred to Kelly Springfield Tire Company in Fayetteville. Bernice packed up her family and began a new life in North Carolina.

In Fayetteville, Bernice worked at Carolina Telephone and Social Services until she found her calling as a real estate agent. Upon retirement, Bernice and Hank moved to Carolina Trace in Sanford where Bernice became an avid golfer. Throughout their lives, Bernice and Hank enjoyed traveling, and they cruised to various ports of call across the globe.

Bernice loved to socialize, and her warm personality, sharp wit, and love of people gained her many close friends along the way. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of her company.

Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Hank" Lee Boughman, Sr.

Bernice is survived by two daughters, Kathy Browers (and husband Dick) and Barbara Richardson (and husband Billy); son, Harold Lee Boughman, Jr. (and wife Jennifer); eight grandchildren; Blaine Browers, Brad Browers, Matt Richardson, Caroline McGann, Zack Richardson, Hank Boughman, III, Sam Boughman, and Charlie Boughman; and nine great-grandchildren.

A private Memorial Mass will be conducted at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
