Obituary

Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Maurice D. Galey, Sr., 68, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. \\"Mauri\\" to his friends and family was born Aug. 20, 1938, in Indiana. He proudly served his country fro more than 45 years as both an officer in the Air Force and flight instructor to many at Pope's C-130 Simulator. His career began with the Maroon 10 Flight in Greenville, Miss., and was filled with tours across the globe, finally calling Fayetteville home. Mauri earned much recognition, including the Distinguished Flying Cross with oak leaf cluster, but none were more valued than that of husband, father and Papa. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, in Jernigan Warren Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will take place from noon to 2 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Mauri is survived by his wife of 45 years, Janice Pullen Galey; his brother, Fred Galey; three children, Mauri Jr., Angie and Randy; and three grandchildren, Ryan, Sarah, and Michael.
