Mrs. Mavis Lancaster Tew, 79, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at Highland House. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 3, 2009, at 4 pm in Jernigan Warren Chapel with Revs. Maurice Lancaster, Tryon Lancaster, and Paul Smith officiating. The burial will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park. Mavis was a lifelong member of Victory United Methodist Church and a longtime employee with Burlington Industries' Lakedale Plant. She was also a member of the Massey Hill Recreation Center's Seniors' Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Tew; her son, Anthony Tew; and a grandson, Cas Stone. She is survived by her granddaughter, Andrea Tew of Fayetteville; two sisters, Helen Lancaster Spinosa and Eunice Lancaster Galacci, both of Fayetteville; brother, Ecwood Lancaster of Elizabethtown; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 pm Thursday afternoon at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Victory United Methodist Church.
