Obituary

Mei-Chu Lewis, 81, of Fayetteville passed away on Wednesday , September 4, 2024. She was  born December 18, 1942, to Lai Hu Lu and Yu Jing Liang of Taichung, Taiwan.  Left to cherish her memory are  her daughters Teresa Dues and husband Van; Pamelia Lewis and husband Dave; grandsons, Wesley Lewis and Fiancé, Mikaila; Van Jr. and wife Miranda ; Daniel Dues and wife Jordan; granddaughters, Mei-Lani Austin and Naomi Dues. Great grandchildren, Landon, Logan and Georgia; Sisters Elizabeth Courtney and sister in Taiwan; brothers Eddie and Larry Lai; great niece Mary and great nephew Neil; and her beloved animal companion Lucy.

As a young woman in Taiwan, she studied economics at Taichung Providence College. After marrying and having two daughters she moved to the US, and she earned her US citizenship. Soon after she obtained her cosmetology license and worked  in the industry for over 40 years, she retired from JCPenney's and opened her own beauty shop.   Mei- Chu didn't stop there, she went back to college to earn her teachers assistant certificate and nursing assistant certificate one, two , and three. Mei-Chu never stopped working. Her favorite saying to her daughters were, "don't work so hard." Advice She never took.  She loved working and being around people.

Mei-Chu was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a beloved member of her community and neighbors for over 48 years. Mei-Chu believed in making everyone she met  feel like family.  She loved spending time outdoor gardening . Mei-Chu believed there was nothing more important than family.

Visitation: Wednesday, September 11th, 2024, from 5-7 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral home

Funeral: Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 11am in Jernigan-Warren Chapel
