Fayetteville, Catherine Melree Autry, 63 of Faytteville, born March 11, 1949, went to be with the Lord on Friday April 13, 2012 at UNC Cancer Center after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Melree was the daughter of Perry and Jenny Lou Averitte. The family will receive friends from 6- 8 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. The funeral will be Monday April 16, 20 12 at 2 p.m. at Stedman Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Randall Strickland and the Rev. Wiley Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Melree spent her entire life in Fayetteville. She worked for Burlington Mills and Goodyear Tire and Rubber where she retired with 25 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her father Perry Green Averitte, mother Jenny Lou Hair Averitte, and sister Virginia Dare Averitte.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years Arnold Autry and her children Charlie Averitte and wife DiAnne of Fayetteville, daughter Emmy Lou Autry of the home, and step-son Bill Autry of Roseboro. Five grandchildren: Hunter and Maddison Averitte of Fayetteville and Brenna, Annika and Calli Autry of Roseboro. Six siblings Mary Balckman, James Averitte and wife Marliese, Nellie Stewart and husband Joe, Sandra Fetters, Donna Cooper and husband Tommy all of Fayetteville, and Donnie Averitte of Beaverdam, and many nieces and nephews.
Melree was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved her family dearly, She spent her life giving unselfishly to others, She is greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
