Mi Ae Hood

Mi Ae Hood, 73, of The Villages, Florida, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Womack Army Medical Center.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Mi Ae was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald T. Hood, Jr.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Mi Sou Hood Gray and her husband, Jason Gray; her cherished grandsons, Mason Gray and Myles Gray; her sister, Ok Cha DeFouw and her husband, Richard DeFouw; her sister, Yun Hee Kim and her husband, Hui Dong Kim; and three younger sisters residing in South Korea. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her greatly.

As the wife of a dedicated U.S. Army servicemember, Mi Ae shared in a life of service and sacrifice, moving with her husband throughout his military career. Although they lived in several places over the years, Fayetteville, North Carolina, became the community they called home for much of their lives. Following Donald's retirement from the Army, they settled in The Villages, Florida, where they enjoyed their retirement together. After Donald's passing, Mi Ae returned to Fayetteville to be closer to family.

Mi Ae will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her quiet strength, and the love she shared with those around her. Her greatest joy was spending time with her daughter and grandsons, whose lives were enriched by her unwavering love and support. Her kindness, resilience, and gentle spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
