Michael Eugene Bennett, 61, of Fayetteville died Friday, November 25.

Michael was retired as a SSGT with the U.S. Army where he served as a Squad Leader during Operation Iraqi Freedom with C14. He was currently employed with the Hope Mills Post Office. He had a deep love for God, Guns, Guitars and was a WWI History Buff. Michael was a member of a small group known as "The Wild Bunch."

He is survived by his wife, Shel Bennett; step-son, Liam O'Brien; step daughter, Erin O'Brien; In-laws, Johnny and Shelria Long.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 5, 2016 at 12 noon in the Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery Chapel with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Jernigan-Warren Chapel.
