Michael "Mikey" Douglas Hicks, of Fayetteville, NC, passed unexpectedly on Saturday, November 4, 2023, in Greenville, NC.  Mikey loved his family, friends, his cat, and a good debate anytime of the day. You could always find him spending time outside and simply enjoying nature. His wit and infectious humor were legendary. Mikey was a smart, compassionate, kind, old soul that would keep you on your toes always.

Mikey loved animals and children. You could see that every time he played with his cousins and niece, whether they were wrestling or playing blocks.  Above all, Mikey liked to be comfortable and that usually involved his sleep pants and a tee shirt.

We invite friends and family to join us Sunday, November 12, 2023, from 2:00 pm- 4:00 pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home for a celebration of life.  To honor Mikey, the family will be in sleep pants, and we ask you to attend in whatever attire you feel most comfortable in.

Mikey is survived by his mother, Christina Harper (and her husband Stephen Harper); father, Stephen Hicks (and his wife Brook); sister, Madison Hicks; brother, Carter Hicks; great grandmother Helen (Nana) Petrucelli, grandparents, Doug and Angel Baer; aunts, Maggie Baer and Pammy Beischer (and her husband Jon); cousins, Jack, Wyatt, Ben, and Cooper; and niece, Elowen.

Mikey's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. He was a bright light who brought joy and laughter to those around him.

In lieu of flowers and to honor his memory we ask that you take time to enjoy nature, hug your loved ones, and never take a moment for granted.
