Monica Rose Kovolenko, 57, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed away on August 7, 2026.

Born on May 1, 1969, Monica was the oldest daughter of the late Harold Kovolenko and Joyce Lee Kovolenko. She was a beloved daughter, companion, best friend, sister, aunt, and great-aunt whose presence will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Monica had a lifelong love for music. Whether listening to a favorite song, discovering something new, or simply enjoying the way music could bring people and memories together, music held a special place in her heart and was an important part of who she was.

The family will receive friends from 1-1:50 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, with a service at 2 p.m. in the Chapel. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park.

Monica was preceded in death by her father, Harold Kovolenko, her grandparents George and Anna Kovolenko and Leroy and Irene Croom.

Monica is survived by her lifelong companion, best friend, and caregiver, Cindy Garner; her mother, Joyce Lee Kovolenko; and her sisters, Jennifer Woodyard (Brian Woodyard); Anna Lutz (James Lutz); Virginia Kovolenko; and Joyce Vassillion (Justin Vassillion).

She is lovingly remembered by her nieces, Alexis Bryant (Cody Bryant), Zoe Vassillion, and Avery Lutz; her nephew Trace Woodyard; and her great-nephew, Jett Bryant.

Monica was supported and forever loved by her family to include her late aunts Irene Dakovitch, Dolores Burns, Barbara Kovolenko, Virginia Redovian, Gail Propst (the late Jack Propst), and Shirley Gilbert; her late uncles George Kovolenko, John Kovolenko, Richard Kovolenko, and Lee Roy Croom; her aunt Lisa Cross (the late Tony Cross); and cousins Sandy Jones (the late Chuck Jones), Darlene Orlanda (Mike Orlando), Renee Vining (Mike Vining), John Burns, Sue Schieberl, Myra Discenza, Ron Propst (Karen Propst), Rick Propst, Terry King, Brian King, Wendy Gilbert and her sons Tyler Gilbert and Jordan Gilbert, Tony Cross, the late Corey Cross and his daughter Reverie Cross, and the late George Kovolenko.

Monica’s life will be remembered through the family she loved, the memories she leaves behind, and the music that brought her so much joy. Though her absence will be deeply felt, those who loved her will carry her memory with them and think of her whenever a familiar song brings back a treasured moment.
