Mrs. Myrtle Hawley Cashwell, 94, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at 11a.m. in Victory United Methodist Church with the Revs. Paul Smith and Tryon Lancaster officiating. The burial will follow in Cedar Creek Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends today, Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
Myrtle was retired from Burlington Industries. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Cashwell; a grandson, Chuck Whaley; and two brothers, Norman F. Hawley and M.A. Hawley II.
She is survived by her two daughters, Virginia Poniatowski of Charleston, W.Va., and Janice Adams of Fayetteville; son, James C. Cashwell and wife Stacey of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Steven Clay of Charleston, Melissa Clay of West Palm Beach, Fla., Wayne Whaley Jr. of Charlotte, Wendy Cardona of Charlotte, and Christine Cashwell of Elizabeth City; seven great-grandchildren, Preston Cardona, Michael Cardona, Brandon Clay, Ashley Clay, Charlie Clay, Jacob Innis and Jordan Stroud; a sister, Margaret Bucy of Fayetteville; two brothers, V.C. "Minky" Hawley of Fayetteville, and W.R. "Bobby" Hawley of Fayetteville; numerous nieces and nephews; dear family friend, Peggy Hampton; and two beloved caretakers, Vera and Sarah.
