Nancy Elizabeth Lyman, 76, Fayetteville passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with her family by her side.

Nancy was born in Brockton, Massachusetts on November 3, 1947, to the late Otto and Joyce Colburn Lyman. She was the second daughter born, and at a young age took on the role of being her younger brothers' babysitter. In her later life she became the caregiver for her oldest sister.

She was known for watching the sports and weather channels, so much that she was known as the weather bunny and was a diehard New England sports fan, especially the Patriots and the Red Socks.

Nancy was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church, where she was very active in the adult groups and the thrift store. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching the cardinals outside her window.

She was a loving sister, niece, aunt, cousin, and friend to all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Matthews United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday prior to the service at the church.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Lyman and Warren Lyman.

She is survived by her sister, Karin Lyman and husband James Smith; brothers, Russell Lyman and Neal Lyman and wife, Diana; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
