Retired Army Sgt. Maj. Nolton J. Krings, devoted husband and father, died Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at home. Mr. Krings was born Aug. 5, 1933, in Plum City, Wis. He married Glenda Fay Catura on June 23, 1953. They were happily married for 56 years; and their eight children were their greatest accomplishment. Mr. Krings served 30 years in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, trips to Vegas and a mean game of Scrabble. His grandchildren were the joy of his life. He was a quiet man known for his quick wit. Mr. Krings is survived by his wife, Glenda, seven children, Eileen Rettig, Melissa (William) Pajunen, Kevin (Carolyn) Krings, Dennis (Terri) Krings, Tim (Carla) Krings, Mary Wells, and Pete (Marsha) Krings; 13 grandchildren, Matthew, Zach, Katherine, Nicholas, Johnathon, Meagan, Joshua, Connor, Catelyn, Caleb, Jewel, Hannah and Christopher; sisters, Mary Jane Denny, Karleen Johnson and Carmen Seipel; brother, Patrick (Ann) Krings; sisters-in-law, Viola Krings, Judy Finn and Joan Catura; brothers-in-law, David (Mary) Catura and Jim Frederickson; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Krings was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Marie; parents, Frank and Rosanna Krings; twin sisters, Jean and Janet; brother, Norbert; sisters-in-law, Jane Krings and Donna Frederickson; and brothers-in-law, Bob Johnson, Jerd Denny, Doug Goike, Garry Catura and Jerry Finn. The family will receive friends at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville on Monday, April 12, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at 2 p.m. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
