Mrs. Norma Nunez, 69, of Parkton, NC, died Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC, after a long battle with cancer.

Norma was born October 23, 1953, in the Bronx, NY, to the late Miguel A. Nunez and Magdalena Maldonado Nunez. She graduated from the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras with multiple degrees and worked as a Teacher at Dr. Agustín Stahl High School in Bayamon.  Norma also worked as a Nurse in the Fayetteville area for over 20 years before retiring.  She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her and served her communities selflessly as a Teacher and Nurse for many years.  She also had many friends and was a well-loved member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, which she attended regularly.  She was very loved and will be missed terribly.

Norma is survived by her sons, Raphael E. Lopez and Alexis X. Lopez; her daughter, Raquel A. Lopez; her brother, Miguel A. Nunez, Jr; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Burial will follow the Mass at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery, 2881 Gillespie St., Fayetteville, NC 28306.
