Odis Benton Simmons, 87 of Hope Mills passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 in his home with his loving family by his side. Odis was born in Cumberland County on September 8, 1929 to the late Irene and Van Simmons. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth R. Simmons and brother, L.V. Simmons. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Jernigan-Warren Chapel with Rev. Gary Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Odis is survived by his wife, Becky Simmons; daughters, Ann Searcy and husband, Wayne; Linda Simmons Faircloth, Cindy Rodriguez, and Sharon Miller and husband Jimmy; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Zack.
