Obituary

Pamela Jill Young, 89, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Pamela was born on December 6, 1936, in Cheltenham, England, to the late Wally and Alice Garside. As a child, she survived the Blitz during World War II, an experience that was a part of her remarkable life story.

In 1956, Pamela married the love of her life, J.T. Young, and moved to the United States. She proudly became an American citizen and embraced her life in her adopted country. As a military wife and mother, Pamela devoted herself to her family and supported her husband throughout his military career.

Pamela had a love for the simple joys in life. She was an avid gardener and an exceptional cook, and everyone looked forward to enjoying her delicious meals. She also enjoyed painting ceramics, antiquing, and visiting estate sales. Some of her happiest and most cherished times were spent at her camper at Oak Island and White Lake, where she loved the fresh air, peaceful surroundings, time away from phones, and the opportunity to simply relax.

Pamela was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her love for her family was at the heart of her life, and the memories she created with them will be treasured for generations to come.

In addition to her parents, Pamela was preceded in death by her beloved husband, J.T. Young, and her brothers, Syd and Peter Garside.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Young, Donna Davis (Scott), and Dawn Korcz (Mark Malone); her sister, Gloria Scanlon; and her brother, Paul Garside. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jesse Bradbury (Melissa), Eric Bradbury (Kayla), Kayla Young, Kelsey Young, Zoe Korcz, and Chloe Korcz; great-grandchildren, Mckenzie Bradbury, Jayden Bradbury, Kristen Sweeney (Sam), Emma Howell, Cole Howell, and Maverick Bradbury; great-great-granddaughter, Harper Grace; and a great-great-granddaughter, Charlotte, who is expected to arrive in October.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Cumberland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, where Pamela will be entombed with her beloved husband.
