Obituary

Patricia Ann Autry Long, 69, of Fayetteville passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, after a long battle with cancer, at her home, with her two sons by her side.

Pat was born on August 26, 1952, in Cumberland County to the late Rev. Aldon Johnson and Dorothy Amelia Budd Johnson.

Pat accomplished many things in life, but she was most proud of her family. Her house was filled with photos of her mom and dad, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters, nieces and nephews. Talking about her grandbabies and great grandbabies always made her smile.

She loved life. She loved playing BINGO, family gatherings and the beach. She also loved to cook. When she cooked, it was always enough for a crowd. She started an annual thanksgiving dinner at BINGO, and cooking for her BINGO crew brought her joy. She loved to cook for her family too. She made nearly everything from scratch and there was always enough food for an army when she was in charge. Her homemade biscuits were the best!

Pat had a big heart. She was always trying to help someone she knew. If you needed something, you could call Pat, and if she couldn't do it, she knew someone that could.

She loved to laugh. She always had a funny story to tell or something to say to make you laugh. She would be smiling and laughing right along with you.

She was a good mom, a good sister, a good grandma, a good aunt and a good friend. She was loved and she will be sorely missed by everyone that loved her.

She is survived by her children, Gerald Autry and his partner Lisa and William Autry and his wife Renee; 4 grandchildren, Crystal, Amber, Susie and James, and 3 great grandchildren, Junior, Bentley and Khloe, and one great granddaughter, Hannah, to arrive soon.  Sisters, Carol Duke, Brenda Davenport and Kim McCleary.

Pat was preceded in death by her first husband, Gerald S. Autry, Sr. and her sister, Marilyn Sweat.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Chapel. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park West. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
